People selling items on FB to others after arranging collection.

Honestly at the end of my tether. It happens so bloomin’ often!

I’ve been looking for a specific item on marketplace and twice now I’ve arranged to collect then notice it’s ’sold’ a day later. Message to confirm that’s the case and get “ah yes sorry someone picked up today”

Like I get it if you need/want the money and it’s your item so sell so fair enough but why not message me first as you’ve said I can have it and mention someone can pick it up quicker.. I’d make other arrangements to get it sooner if I had to. Don’t ask me for a date/time if you’re got other ideas 😫😫

I’m just mad because I’ve missed a total bargain and it’s such a specific item it’s going to take ages to pop up again 😔

There are so many timewasters on FB marketplace who say they're interested and then never show up, so I always go with a "first to turn to with the right amount of money takes it" approach. It's a shame the seller wasn't clear that's what they were doing. In future if you see what you want then try and get there the same day rather than expecting the seller to hold an item for you and turn down others willing to collect sooner.

I appreciate this. I did explain I may be able to come earlier but they just asked for what time on Friday so we stuck with Friday. If they’d mentioned they wanted it gone before then I would have made arrangements but they seemed fine with my ease of Friday as I was in that area anyway.

I just wished they had let me have first refusal if I couldn’t collect when they wanted 😫

People are time wasters and no shows.

if you want it you say
“I’m interested. When is the earliest it is convenient for me to collect?”
and you make it happen

They asked me “When is best for you?” I said “I’m in the area in Friday if you’re happy to hold until then? Otherwise I may be able to collect earlier I just need to chat with my husband”

He replied “What time Friday suits?” I asked if I could go at 1pm and he said that’s fine see you then and sent his address. So we were set for Friday. It’s only as I was going to look lovingly at the items I’ve been on a manhunt for that it has sold written on the post. So I could have just turned up and been disappointed, or he was planning on messaging me eventually 😂😫 either way I’m just gutted!

Sounds like you’re just not collecting quickly enough.

Are you sure it is not "sold" to you and he's put that to stop other people getting in touch about it?
