It’s filthy. Can’t get in… any ideas?

Husband took ours off (assuming you mean the rubber door seal) and it got washed and put back on. He did dismantle the machine more to get it back on as the spring thing was hard to do.
It was really gross but came up clean.
A new one wasn't very dear and he swapped it a week later so it looks lovely and new.

DH did this after making a hole in the old one.

There was swearing. A lot of swearing. Mainly about the spring being an utter cutting fuckwit of a mouthbreathing arsewipe. Finally put the new one on with the help of two teenagers who still have all their fingers and a new vocabulary.

It's the kind of thing that looks easy on a YouTube tutorial, and probably is easy the second or third time you do it.

Mine has had to be done a few times. A naughty puppy who liked to chew the seal was the main reason. As PPs have said, getting the spring on is the most difficult part. I couldn’t do it but my Dad had the strength luckily.

DH replaced ours that broke and it was an arse of a job but doable. I had to help him, it's a 2 person job as you have to get the seal in place all round when you put it in and you need more than 2 hands!

I replaced mine, couple of ffs moments getting the spring back on but not a difficult job really
