Hi , I tested +ve for covid 2 days ago. Really struggling with lots of mucus, very little is coming up with cough/blowing nose. What can help ?

I was put on intravenous drip this morning. I felt better after that, but back to mucusy self right now.

What is the oral equivalent of intravenous drip?

Saline nasal spray (eg Sterimar) might help.

Also steer clear of anything dairy whilst you’re unwell.

Steam, nasal irrigation with a netty pot.

I second the staying off dairy.

The old fashioned Vicks in a bowl of boiling water with a towel over your head. Doing this before you go to bed would be good as you're not supposed to go out afterwards but I expect you're not going anywhere if you're feeling rough

My nose isn’t blocked, the mucus is somewhere in my chest. The cough is mucusy, but it isn’t brining up anything :(
My mouth, throat feel like there is a lot of saliva. It’s making me very nauseous. Sorry TMI :(

I drank lots of water and force vomited to clear up . Worked for a few hours, now back to where I was.

Catarrh pastilles, certain cough medicines like bronchostop also work on mucus.

Elderflower cordial will help. Have it hot with lemon juice.

Exputex. Fantastic for getting phlegm up.

The mucus is hyaluronic acid from a bradykinin storm. You can buy mullein leaf and thyme tea on amazon. The mullein leaf is great for the Lungs and breaks up hyaluron

When I had covid I found gargling with listerine helped loosen the stuff deep in the back of my throat enough that I could get it out.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 23/07/2024 05:15

I just got over the worst cold I've ever had which lasted longer than covid and definitely affected my lungs more. I went to a sauna/steam room and breathed as deeply as I could for 10 minutes.

You need an effervescent called ACC200. I don't know if you can get it in UK, the ingredient is acetylcysteine, in case it goes under another name.
