Daughter can't sleep

Daughter is 9 and just doesn't sleep, she's awake all evening and when we go to bed around 11-12 she's still wide awake and will often come in our room to tell us she can't sleep even getting quite emotional about it.
She sometimes gets up for school having not slept at all, although she's very bright and excelling in school, she's also well behaved and doesn't show signs of being tired during the day.

I don't know if she'll grow out of it or if I need to have her seen to, to get to the bottom of it.
I've asked her if she's worried about anything or got things on her mind but she says no nothing is on her mind she just lays there and lays there and can't drop off.
We've tried letting her read and it doesn't help, we've tried putting a film on for her to fall asleep to and that doesn't help, we've tried earlier bedtime, later bedtime and nothing works for her.
I don't know how she manages to function, she's never tired.

That surely needs a doctors visit. Maybe it won't be anything dramatic, but would be good to resolve.

When I was about the same age I decided I couldn't sleep if I needed to pee AT ALL. I would go to the loo over and over and over thinking I needed to pee. I didn't, but it stopped me sleeping. I don't think I would have told my parents that was the reason I wasn't sleeping, after all, I was just peeing.

I do hear her get up to go to the toilet a couple of times, she just never gets tired so she goes to bed wide awake and is awake all night.
