To ask what you would do

I'm just going to lay everything out as clearly as possible:
We are heading to Paris for a long weekend on the 9th-12th August. We haven't told my daughter as we will be visiting the mouse.
We are travelling by Eurostar.
Daughter's passport runs out Jan 2025.
I have checked Eurostar's website and the government's website as well as various other online newssites (also asked on mumsnet and reddit) and the rules seem to be she needs to have 3 months on her passport when we leave- which she will do.
However, a couple of friends were very adamant when I told them about the expiry date that I get her a new passport.
I have an appointment for tomorrow and her photo has been countersigned.
Its about a three hour drive for us.

My concern with renewing is that I am handing over her passport- what if the new one gets lost or delayed?
If you were me what would you do?

I wouldn’t do this- too close to the trip to be handing over the old passport.

You’ll have five months left on it when you travel, that’s more than you need. Your friends are bonkers.

When was her passport issued? It needs to be within 10 years of issue so maybe that’s what they are talking about?

Thanks Sweetpickle! I think I know not to renew but I'm struggling to trust my choice as I do suffer from anxiety in the summer holidays- 6 weeks off work with little routine!
Passport was issued 2020.
