That is some advice on-line regarding the outage, has anyone tried this?

What's the alternative?

If you can reboot it in safe mode you may be okay, but I don't know enough to give any advice.

If it’s a personal Pc or laptop you will not be affected

if you are running a business machine etc you should have it support - and yes, the system may need to be reloaded multiple times

Its a work PC, did you try this yourself and if so did it work?

yes I was on my work laptop all day yesterday - no issues at all

if you are worried about a work pc
or laptop you’ll have no
issues - just turn it on 😜

Does your company use Crowdstrike? If they've been affected, have IT not issued any guidance already?

TheShiningCarpet · 20/07/2024 15:31

Indeed - that is exactly what I just explained

have you turned yours on? Are you saying you are getting the blue screen of death? If Yes and Yes = contact work IT on Monday

if Yes and No = you are good to go

RationalityIsHard · 20/07/2024 15:51

You can give it a go, but I would definitely only be doing during work time - it will take ages.

I tried it today took about an hour, and it didn't work!

I have no idea if my company uses Crowdstrike, I don't think most people would know what their company uses. I'm not sure how I would contact my IT department.

15 was just the estimate. Sometimes it works after 3 or 4, other times you have to go over 15.
I think you've done enough though, especially in your own time. Let the IT dept fix it for you and if that takes a while, that's the company's problem for not employing enough IT people, not yours.

You don't have a help desk? A service desk? The people you complain to when something isn't working?

SnapdragonToadflax · 20/07/2024 19:42

Just ring your company's reception on Monday and ask to be put though to IT because your laptop is affected by the Crowdstrike outage.

And then find out the number for the helpdesk and save it in your phone 👀

I bet a lot of people only know how to contact IT via online systems... hopefully the OP can find their phone number

The phone number for our help desk is printed on the asset tags on each device. Is there anything like that on yours, OP?
