To think DP is faking ‘feeling rotten’?

DP was feeling a bit unwell one evening this week but apparently was fine after a good sleep and went to work as usual for the rest of the week. Today is a standard Saturday with a mix of chores and playing with the kids (3 under 8). He just bounced back from getting his car valeted anfter being fairly cheerful and busy all morning and I go to get toddler up from nap, suggest we head to the park with bikes, suddenly he ‘feels rotten again’ and doesn’t want to do anything with the kids. I think he’s lying but I know if I confront him he’ll deny it and be defensive and butthurt. AIBU?

Maybe

But you can't know for sure can you...

Tell him your sister/friend/neighbour has just phoned and offered to take the kids for the rest of the day so you can both go out for a lazy pub lunch and see if that helps him recover.

Carry on as normal today and don't confront him, then tomorrow wake up and tell him you must have caught what he had as you 'feel rotten'. Tell him he'll have to look after the kids like you did when he was ill.

Of course he's faking. Or exaggerating anyway. He doesn't want to spend his Saturday afternoon engaging with 3 small children.

Brilliant 🤣

Good idea 👍

Well this is 100% happening 😍

So he said it again when I started making ‘let’s put our shoes on’ noises (I ignored the earlier mutterings) and I stared at him for a few seconds and narrowed my eyes and almost said something, but didn’t. I must be terrifying because he made a miraculous recovery and ran around with the kids at the park and has now gone off to ‘clean the shed’ aka tidy up for a few minutes then sit playing CoD for as long as he thinks he can get away with before I hunt him out.

I’ve been under the weather recently, chest infections, migraine vomiting etc

some days I do feel like I need to rest. I’ve been to work all week and now I’m home chilling while my husband takes the kids out.

You can’t really know for definite

YABU for using the term butthurt.
