Anyone had these symptoms before? Feel horrific suddenly

Since around 3pm today I’ve gone downhill fast. I’m shivering when it’s 26 degrees outside. I don’t feel sick but head hurts and I feel really weak. The last couple of days my hands have felt like they were burning when washing them (the sensation I mean, not the temperature).

I have mild stomach pain and a cough that’s come on just this afternoon.

I am really worried as I am alone with Ds 2 this weekend and quite literally have nobody to help. Does this sound like something that’s going to hang around? It took all my energy to get him ready for bed I really don’t know how I will face the day.

There is a lot of covid around. Are you sure that you don't have it?

LittleBigLoner · 18/07/2024 19:27

I had a horrible gastric flu a couple weeks ago and started exactly as you describe. Along with contraction type stomach pains! It took about two weeks to feel better.

RagzRebooted · 18/07/2024 19:28

Sounds like COVID or another virus.

Poorlymumm12 · 18/07/2024 19:29

@RampantIvy i think I need to get a test. Everything aches! Really don’t know what I’m going to do all weekend

Sounds like flu or something, maybe covid. Take paracetamol and drink plenty of fluids, rest when possible.

BananaLambo · 18/07/2024 19:32

COVID and whooping cough are rampant at the moment. I’d take a COVID test as a first step, though I’m not sure the tests pick it up at well as they used to.

SparrowNest15 · 18/07/2024 19:33

Disney on the tv for the little one will not damage him for one weekend . Very easy meals and rest on the sofa . Hope you feel better soon .

LuckysDadsHat · 18/07/2024 19:33

The extreme aches and pains is my current experience of covid. I am nearly 2 weeks in and still feel like shit.

JC03745 · 18/07/2024 19:33

Order covid tests online or ask a friend/neighbour to drop some off- then at least you'd know if its that. Take ibuprofen and/or paracetamol for the fever and aches. Do you someone who could help with your child? The father? Their family or yours?

I've just had Pneumonia and it sounds similar to what you're describing, except I was also breathless and had chest pain.

Probably best to go to the doctor.

curiouscat1987 · 18/07/2024 19:36

Poor you!! If you get really bad and need help to get food etc, i recommend posting something on Nextdoor for your local area, i bet you'll get people willing to go to the shops for you or similar to help. Feel better soon!

That’s how my most recent Covid started. I ached all over, felt very feverish and weirdly shaking when it wasn’t cold, along with a nasty headache. I tested positive. The first two days were the worst, day three was better and more like a normal illness, then I gradually got better over a week or two. I was very tired though.

mickybarrysmum · 18/07/2024 20:53

I'm just starting to feel better after over a week of the same symptoms. Covid I'm afraid
