To ask what alcohol to serve with meal tonight?……

ClickClack300 · 18/07/2024 14:47

Making fajitas for the girls tonight and we rarely get together so wanted to get some alcohol incase anyone fancies a drink with the food.

Red wine - red meats
White wine - white meats/fish

What would you like to give me inspiration. I have gin, vodka etc in the cabinet they can have but anything thing else that would go well?

Margaritas!

simmertime · 18/07/2024 14:48

Tequila

SherbetSweeties · 18/07/2024 14:48

Margaritas!! A jug of ice cold margaritas sound perfect with that meal.

ThatTealViewer · 18/07/2024 14:48

Make frozen daiquiris and margaritas? It’s lovely weather for an icy cocktail.

keylimedog · 18/07/2024 14:48

If it is fajitas I'd be all over spicy margaritas or frozen daiquiris! Or if you've seen recently the open can cocktail trend? That's really cute for a girls night!

Cherry8809 · 18/07/2024 14:49

Margaritas and white sangria!

RampantIvy · 18/07/2024 14:50

We never follow the "rules". We just drink something we enjoy. If you are enjoying nice weather I would look at doing long cocktail style drinks and/or chilled white wine.

You sound like a lovely host. I hope your evening goes with a swing.

MrsSchrute · 18/07/2024 14:54

Sounds lush op! What time should I head over??

RampantIvy · 18/07/2024 14:54

That sounds lovely @OneTC. I would probably add soda water to make it into a long drink.

BillieEilishfan · 18/07/2024 14:56

Can’t go wrong with ice cold rose in the summer.

I think that's called a Tom Collins and is a bloody amazing drink also good with most food

BobandRobertaSmith · 18/07/2024 15:03

Frozen margaritas and white sangria. Maybe a frozen virgin margarita slush puppy too.

I suppose in some ways a beer like Corona goes better with fajitas than wine, if your friends are beer drinkers.

dbeuowlxb173939 · 18/07/2024 15:04

Sangria or margaritas

Definitely. Some sort of chilled light beer, for sure, not wine.
Maybe a margarita as an aperitif?

MayonnaiseOnMyChips · 18/07/2024 15:38

I always have prosecco when it's a girls night in but lagers or gin and tonics would be perfect for this kind of summery afternoon 😍 enjoy

xILikeJamx · 18/07/2024 15:39

Coronaritas is the correct answer

Mexican beers!

longdistanceclaraclara · 18/07/2024 16:16

Margaritas and whatever Mexican beer you can get

WildLemur · 18/07/2024 16:43

I'm no expert but I feel as though straight wine doesn't pair well with spicier foods. Make it a sangria.

NCNCNCNCNCNCNCNameChange · 18/07/2024 16:57

Someone recently made me a mojito using just a shot of white rum and a fever tree £4 mixer from tescos, loaded up in a glass full of ice with a slice of lime... oh my GOD it was heaven. I usually hate mojitos but it was amazing. I went and bought the whole range for myself and they do a margarita mix too! I honestly couldn't reccomend them more they're so much nicer than any home made cocktail I've ever done.

PenguinCounter · 18/07/2024 17:04

Oh that fever tree margarita mix is lovely!

Failing that, frosé? I make the version with frozen strawberries, rosé and sugar but there are a few versions knocking about.

mitogoshi · 18/07/2024 17:15

Margaritas for those drinking (2 parts tequila to 1 part triple sec and 1 part lime juice) plus Lidl do a lovely chilled cabinet limeade for those not drinking/only having one
