You can get Ito it through the help centre but you need to enter your booking details to bring it up

Flowersbloom12 · 16/07/2024 09:48

Hi thanks, I can’t even find that bit-any tips?

I called them and they were asking for booking confirmation number and PIN code. I thought the pin code was meant to be confidential? They said they need it to message the property.
Can anyone confirm if I should give out the PIN code for the booking?
Would then be worried about bank details?

Can you not just use the message function tin through the app? You will need to enter your ref / pin.

Flowersbloom12 · 16/07/2024 23:10

Thanks- the site frustratingly keeps taking me to messaging the hotel- which I’ve already done.
The booking had said ‘no prepayment needed’ yet the hotel have taken a prepayment!
The booking had also said free cancellation but I assume if we cancelled then they wouldn’t return the prepayment!?!
Have never had this problem before!
Think this is the hotel’s fault rather than booking.com!??
Just wasn’t sure about giving the booking.com agent the pin as then can they log into your account?
Any advice would be very gratefully received.
Thanks!

Are you sure it's not a pre authorisation? Is it a credit card?

montysma1 · 17/07/2024 08:34

You need the pin or they won't deal with you at all.

I had a mystery debit taken from my bank by them, not relatibg to a booking. They wouldn't even investigate without booking number and pin.....which didn't exist as there was no booking!
Finally did a charge back through fraud dept at bank.

Flowersbloom12 · 17/07/2024 13:58

So- it’s a debit card- not a credit card- and they have said it’s a ‘guarantee’ for the booking- ie the hotel have said this.
Since it’s a debit card it has come out as a payment.
But what if we have to cancel?
Booked it as it was ‘Free cancellation and no prepayment’
Please help!
Thanks. Should I contest this? And would that be with booking.com or the hotel?

If you cancel the money will be refunded, I've done this before.

DomingoinLittleOakley · 17/07/2024 14:25

I've just had a look at my previous booking.com bookings and the PIN is different each time. I think the PIN is just for the booking confirmation and should only show the last 4 digits of your card.

Flowersbloom12 · 17/07/2024 14:56

Lightbulbmoment- thanks- phew! As long as they refund it if we have to cancel!!
I always book ‘Free cancellation and No prepayment’ and this has never happened in all the years I have used booking.com!
