Hi all putting thread on here for traffic.
So I reckon I had covid in December and never fully recovered. For months all my sinus's were blocked (my turbinates were swollen and I have a deviated septum) and I had chronic face pain, tmj pain (I now have a mouth guard), post nasal drip, gerd, I have gradually with medication and supplements helped a lot of the symptoms. The symptoms I'm left with are muffled, full feeling pressure in ears and some pain . I have had wax removal, I have a device for popping my ears and do the vaslava technique. Nothing seems to clear it, I'm suffering with tinnitus which sounds like constant air escaping in my ear. I hear all sorts of gurgling, popping, wheezing (not asthma as doc said chest is clear) when I'm lay down trying to sleep
Can anyone recommend any treatment I haven't tried yet it gets me so down.
Or if anyone knows how much private eustation tube surgery is. I've seen docs etc, it's frustrating as the symptoms have regularly changed and I can't keep up
So I have a steroid nasal spray(Avmays) , Neil med saline spray, mouth guard, omeprazole, & I sleep with a humidifier,
Thanks in advance

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. Covid left me with really heightened tendency to allergic reactions, and a lot of the allergens cause me problems in the ear nose and throat department.

The biggest discovery I've made is that WoodyKnows Super-Defense Nasal Filters from amazon are really good. They are even better if you buy the replacement filters and use those instead as they are easy to breathe through.

With me it's pollen allergies that are the problem but you might possibly have developed a dust allergy or something if it's happening all year,

The filters stop allergens when you breathe in so it stops the allergens getting to all the surfaces in the nose and throat and the sinuses, if that's what the problem is.

The last two years when I went out in the pollen it was making my throat and sinuses swell internally which was really alarming, but this year it hasn't been so bad which is quite encouraging.

I have also become allergic to drugs post-covid and even antihisamines make my throat swell up, which seem kind of unfair, but there is it.

Is it possible that you are having this kind of allergic reaction?

The gastroenterologist suggested and iQoro device for GERD, and they are available on prescription. I have one and I have been using it, but not every day all the time so I haven't got a lot of progress yet.

I did try changing my posture to help with GERD and that seemed to help. If I sleep lying really straight in bed it seems to help.

With me it's not actually GERD but something called rumination syndrome which you should not google because it sounds minging but actually isn't nearly as bad as it sounds.

Good luck!

Have you been checked for glue ear? Your symptoms sound identical.

Ear tubes privately for children is around £2k

I had these exact symptoms after covid. Took a year for them to subside. But the things that helped were the steroid nasal spray and fexofenadine.

Hello! I could have written your very post! I’m struggling with a full ear, pressure in it & tinnitus. Have things got better for you?

Hi 👋🏻 I actually paid private to have my deviated septum fixed and my eustation tubes done. Have you been to the gp to ask to be referred to ent?

Not through Covid but I've had a dodgy ear for about 6 months now and at one stage went completely deaf. I went to my GP and got a pretty quick referral to ENT who did a variety of tests but nothing came up. They recommended an MRI which I had when I returned to the country I was working in but again...nothing to be seen.
It cleared up to a degree but have still got that full feeling. However....of course I'm on holiday now....in New Zealand and unfortunately I've had a lot of dizziness as well as the feeling of fullness.... a bit of googling and the symptoms seems to come up with David Bowie ear... ok so actually Labarynthitis (sp?).... David Bowie...Labyrinth connection 😆
For the dizziness, the pharmacist gave me travel sickness pills but unfortunately nothing for the ear. Have tried the balloon thing before .... a complete waste of money.

Thank you for replying back. May I ask what they did to your Eustachian tubes?

I’ve actually been to a private ENT who has been very unhelpful. At first I had mild hearing loss & ETD. Then when I went back he said both of those now resolved, I explained but it’s not and I still have these symptoms (fullness in ear, pressure won’t equalise & bad tinnitus), he said it will take time & sent me packing.

I think my Eustachian tube is still inflamed as my sinuses give me trouble at different times of my cycle. I’m doing nasal rinse, I’ve ordered steroid nasal spray via an online chemist, have the balloon and ear popper. My GP won’t even see me about it.

This has all come about from a virus which then gave me ear infection in both ears.
