To say she has 3 solutions here....

I have 2 female cousins, both currently still at home. Their lives are widely different. Both female, one age 37, the other, age 31. The youngest is definitely better off than the eldest. She has a fiance who earns a lot more and so they are able to buy a flat near London. (She only works part time and earns around 7K, him around 27K) they are always out and about doing fun things. The eldest in contrast has health conditions, works but doesn't earn nearly enough to move out . She has expressed upset and anxiety at the future. Feels like her parents are only proud of the youngest and feels pushed aside. She does a lot around the house in the way that the youngest has never done and only goes out alone which she finds boring (Apart from when we meet obviously). I do think she could make more of an effort to meet people and go to groups but she isn't keen. Aibu to say the only two solutions here are to find a new, much higher paying job or try and meet someone ?

2 solutions I mean, not 3.

I digress but where is this place near London that a joint salary of 35k buys you a flat and leaves enough for a fun lifestyle?!

Outside of London but don't want to be too specific as could be outing.
They won't be able to do all the fun stuff once the bills start coming in. Personally I think they will massively struggle but they have been approved....

Why does the 37 year old only go out alone? Why is the 31 year old, who is perfectly healthy, earning so little?

Cuppapuppa · 14/07/2024 18:37

Presumably her health conditions make her anxious which is hard. But yes it’s far easier to buy with someone else.

CobaltQueen · 14/07/2024 18:38

Because she doesn't have any friends unless you count me.
As for the other question, I don't really know.
