First of all I am no way trying to criticise my GP and I am very grateful to receive healthcare .
- so I had an ear infection was prescribed spray antibiotics however this made things worse instead of better . Second trip to the gp I was prescribed amoxicillin things improved slightly but was still experiencing vertigo , pain and hearing loss . Third trip to the GP I seen the nurse (who then relays beck to the gp ) had examination during appointment and nurse stated she would talk to GP and call me . Nurse called me and stated GP has prescribed another antibiotic and it was in the chemist to collect - I collected antibiotic and took as prescribed on the box - no warning on the box (other than not to have with milk) and no patient leaflet included . I have taken the antibiotics for two days and my mental health has dipped massively and panic attacks increased ( I am currently prescribed anti depressant and beta blockers ) and I feel terrible so I googled them to see that in fact they can have some seriously nasty side effects such as : tendinitis and ruptured tendon
- nerve damage
- central nervous system (CNS) side effects, such as:
- depression
- seizures
- suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
Am I being unreasonable to think I should have been warned about this or given some information before taking ciprofloxacin?
Im not sure I would have taken them if being advised of the risks before hand by the gp, nurse or pharmacist. Also any positive / negative experiences welcome !
