Noisy Child Upstairs

This is a how best to approach this ? New upstairs neighbours have a young child who sounds like she is very lively running around a lot, but also, and this is my issue, playing with a ball above my head and this goes on until 10pm some evenings. I would have hoped that was so obviously unfair on the people below (me) that it wouldn't happen, but.....

You wouldn’t happen to live in South West London would you…

No, I'm in Scotland - you have my commiserations if you are experiencing similar....

Who lets their child play ball at anytime in the house? Never mind 10pm?! Shouldn’t they be asleep? God, her parents are so unreasonable. Dream world: tell them to not be so selfish, parent their child properly and how annoying they are. Reality: you’re probably wasting your breath as they sound like very unreasonable people

I do live in SW London and my neighbour sent a polite message to me to let me know. I was mortified and have made DC aware.

What bothers me more is that DC is at an awkward age and often shouts or screams… assume my neighbour can hear that too 😬

Neighbour - if you are on here am so sorry and am really trying my very best

How did she send the message ? Mumsnet seems divided as to whether putting a note through the door is appropriate or should always be a face to face

I lived there and had a terrible evil mother and her kid who terrorised me to mental health all she said was "well she's 9"

I live in a semi and unbeknown to me my daughter was busy bouncing a tennis ball against the shared wall of the bedroom. Neighbour knocked on door to complain. Suggest you complain as not always obvious that your child's actions are causing problems for others. (This was in the middle of the day - so I was always curious why they got pissed off as neither of them were shift workers and you could not hear it from my side).

Facebook messenger. My DC is currently obsessed with a hobby horse and think that is what neighbour was referring to.

😬

Complain to the neighbor and the letting agent. I don't buy them not knowing surely they can hear the ball and feet?
