To fly with poorly baby

14 month old DC came down with a fever yesterday, we are supposed to fly on holiday tomorrow. Help! Do I have to rebook the flights? Is it better to do that now or wait until the last minute and hope for a full recovery?

It’s only a two hour flight. They’ve been up and down, one minute running around laughing but when the fever rises again crying and wanting cuddles. Still breastfeeding which helps. I really don’t know what to do. It’s only a 5 day trip so if we can’t fly tomorrow I think the trip is off really.

Can you claim on insurance or reschedule flights/accommodation?
It's not fair on baby or other passengers to fly, especially if you aren't 100% sure what's causing the fever.

My 4 month old was ill on holiday recently. Fever and vomiting, lasted 24 hours then he was absolutely fine. Hopefully your little one improves before the flight

We can’t reschedule the accommodation, possibly could claim for the flight on insurance but I’ve never done that before and I don’t know what you need to provide in terms of evidence. Will have to see in the morning and make a decision. Just praying for a miraculous recovery tomorrow. @@Werweisswohin I agree I wouldn’t want to spread illness and I wouldn’t want to put DC on a plane feeling really unwell anyway. Just really sad as we are supposed to be visiting friends we haven’t seen in a long time, our first trip abroad in 2 years. We’re both burnt out with work & baby. I really felt like I needed this & I’ve been looking forward to it for months.

Load up with calpol and fly.

No please don't fly and go away with a poorly child. It shouldn't even be an option in your mind. If the baby's completely recovered then that's a different matter of course.

I would probably still go! Babies get fevers all the time. Take plenty of calpol/nurofen and make sure you have insurance/access to healthcare x

Load up with calpol and fly.

Not a good idea.
