Concert attendance/tickets

Weeks ago, a lovely friend of a friend bought several tickets for a concert for tonight. Earlier this week he asked if my DH and I would like to attend with he and my friend and others if he could find people that wanted to go (he had 8 tickets). Ticket buyer is a big live music fan and so is our mutual friend. I asked my Dh and he said "sure". Well, now the mutual friend isn't going and I am having some stomach issues which may make going to a concert problematic. I don't know if there are other people going or not. The mutual told the ticket buying friend that neither she nor my husband and I were going to attend. However, I am feeling like either A. we should go without the mutual friend because we said we would or B. We should pay for the tickets even though he had purchased them long before he asked us to join them and the plan was for him to treat us to the concert.

Thoughts?

I think in this situation I'd offer to pay. You've held up them being offered to someone else. However he did have them for a while so not sure what else he was going to do with them like. Could he have put them on ticketmaster or twickets in the last few days if he didn't have a buyer? It's obviously too late for that now, therefore I'd offer to pay, or I'd make a social media post myself trying to sell them on even for cheaper.

If the ticket buyer can't get a refund/pass your tickets on to someone else then the decent thing to do would be at least to offer to pay.

If you’ve got the stomach issues can’t your husband go with a friend?

Why do you both have to miss out? Confused

DH goes with a mate, you stay home surely?
