to wonder why Metro, or anyone, thinks black death is news?

very weird non story in Metro. There are dozens of cases of plague in US every year, and very easily dealt with with antibiotics. And hundreds across the world. Not to mention this is bubonic, and black death was actually pneumonic. So why anyone would think this is news I cant imagine. Just putting this here in case the story worried anyone at all. It would be news if there was NO black death in US

Untreated bubonic plague can turn into pneumonic plague. And the US has specific issues because of undocumented people who can live in cramped conditions without a safe way to access healthcare. They also have a vast homeless population, many of whom may have lice that can spread disease.

It really is somewhere the worst could potentially happen. It's not going to, but it's a story.

It isn't a story and it isn't News. Plague has never gone anywhere. It is a constant. it isn't a serious illness because it is 100% treatable and curable these days

NO plague in the US would be News.
