To find Wimbledon doubles players annoying

When they whisper messages behind their hand after each point, and when they fist bump after each point.

What are they saying??

It's so irritating.

I guess they're whispering encouragement or instructions. Anyone got a clue?

They are showing support for each other, and discussing tactics for the next point. Do you play tennis? This is normal behaviour.

"Hit the ball, you nobber"

AutumnCrow · 10/07/2024 18:04

'You duck down, and I'll try not to smash the ball at 122 mph into the back of your head'.

'Yes, I know. Like the last 95 times you told me.' <Mutters sotto voce> ' ... and it's more like 80 mph actually.'

Oh god, the touching each other after every point is so infuriating. I can't watch any doubles because of that.

It's about the serve usually.

It's either 'go long' or 'go short'. Unlike chess, there are precisely 2 moves possible. That require lots of whispering and feelying. Like Abigail's Party but with tennis bracelets and sponsorship.
