Filming an actor in the theatre

Friend and me were at a theatre performance of a play starring an actor from a popular magical franchise. She is a huge fan of this particular actor and goes to see him at conventions etc. We were accompanied by her other friend, who she used to know from work, and I had not met before. It was the closing night.

Anyway, they both used their camera at least twice in the performance to film short segments of the actors (especially this one) on stage. They were sharing them afterwards and were utterly baffled that I seemed disapproving. It's only a short clip! Worth it! I really like it!

I did not say anything during the performance. I wish I had!

That's extremely poor form.

It's not allowed and the theatre will have stated this before the performance. People still do it though.
