Ok this is a lighthearted moan as it concerns a friend who I love and is also a good parent.
We hung out today at a soft play ans as usual cannot speak for more than 5 seconds at a time as she cannot tear her attention away from her 4 yr old and just let him be! Every tiny thing, he stands on one leg etc and wants to be congratulated. Or she’s getting him snacks, a jumper, reminders about this or that. She has an older baby as well and I get that small kids are demanding but somehow the balance isn’t quite right. He can do very little independent play as always needs his mum. My kids are more confident and can’t help wondering if it’s linked. My kids are slightly older, and have more than 2 so could be a bit jaded and more aware of my need to have some adult conversation and that also know that the kids can survive it lol
Buuut….. AIBU to find this inability to move attention away from her kid a bit annoying and think it could be OTT from the kids pov?
