Sorry not an AIBU but I am planning to go on holiday next year for my 40th birthday celebrations. It will be just 3 of us, me, my partner and our 3 year old (who will have just turned 4 at the time of the holiday). It will be for a week in spring.

Contenders are:

  • Cyprus
  • Malta
  • Corfu
  • Portugal

Thoughts on which would be the best in terms of family friendly and suitable for a 4 year old?

My partner has also thrown Dubai into the mix but I'm thinking that definitely wouldn't be suitable for a 4 year old?!

Any thoughts appreciated, thank you

budget?

holidayhelpplease25 · 08/07/2024 09:17

Oh sorry, budget would be helpful!
We are looking in the region 3-3.5k.
All inclusive with having the little one, etc.

one week?

holidayhelpplease25 · 08/07/2024 09:22

Yes a week. I'd love 10 days but I don't think our budget will quite stretch!

I’d go to Cyprus. They are very family friendly. I’d not bother with AI there are so many lovely family tavernas you can go to and try, nice beaches etc

we went at the end of April last year for a family birthday and the weather was low 20s perfect for us

HolaSenorita · 08/07/2024 09:26

What month? I’m asking because there’s quite a difference between march and may. Is weather/heat important to you?

Arewealljustloosingtheplot · 08/07/2024 09:28

If you don’t want to Dubai ( there are some family friendly places but I’d chose carefully ther and there isn’t a huge amount of all
inclusive ) you could go to Ras Al Khaimah instead?

for all the other places on your list if you’re going before June then I’d be looking for a heated pool.

May

I'm not concerned about scorching hot weather tbh, low 20s would be ideal, especially with a little one to keep cool ☺️

In which case absolutely do not even consider Dubai or RAK in May!

holidayhelpplease25 · 08/07/2024 09:32

Thanks @NotSorry - we are leaning towards Cyprus tbh. Is Paphos resort good for kids? I've seen some great hotels there

I mean you'll have resorts in each place that are better for adults and those that are better for families. All sound fine, I'd probably go Portugal as likely to be a bit cooler (but still nice) and shortest flight time. Lots of resorts that cater for families while still being close enough to towns to go out for a nice meal. Your budget probably would get 10 days, unless you want luxury. Where have you been before, and where has been your favourite holiday?

holidayhelpplease25 · 08/07/2024 09:41

We have been to Alicante, Lanzarote, and Majorca before. I'd say Palma in Majorca was our favourite but that was pre child so that might explain why 😂

I'd love to try somewhere a bit further than the Balearics / mainland Spain, hence considering Greece / Cyprus.

DB San Antonio in Malta, great all inclusive hotel. Go through British Airways as the are £300 each cheaper than Jet2, although with BA you don't get tranfer's but it is 12 euros for a taxi to/from the airport.
