DD wants help setting up her phone tripod and I’m trying to help but I can’t get it working properly. Can anyone on here help please?

I’ve managed to get the phone into the clamp but I can’t get the clamp to sit on the tripod properly. The phone is an iPhone (iPhone 11) in case that’s helpful info.

I’ve attached photos here of the tripod and the clamp that the phone sits in that will attach to the tripod.

Very grateful if anyone can help 😊 thanks!

Do I need to buy an adapter/gadget to screw the clamp into the tripod? The current screw on the top of the tripod (which you can see in the photos I’ve attached in my OP) doesn’t seem to be stable enough to hold the phone in the clamp.

I had one of these from a supermarket (can't remember which one) it was pants to be honest.

The top rectangular plastic bit screws only to bendable legs, that's what holds the phone.

In theory youre supposed to be able to make the legs straight and stand it up but it wobbled all over the place. The only way I was able to get any stability was to strap the legs around an upright on a shelf unit I have.

Ah thanks @InfoSecInTheCity. Sorry you didn’t have a good experience with yours.

Could anyone recommend a good tripod that I could use with my phone please? Thanks!

The pointy screw on the top of the tripod screws into the threaded golden hole in the rectangular baseplate part. The disc near the top of the tripod may also rotate, in which case you should spin it up against the bottom of the rectangular baseplate once that piece is on to make it tighter and provide extra support. I can’t be certain, but it looks like one end of the rectangular baseplate will pull out a bit, this is probably to grip the bottom of the phone. If you’re still stuck, try taking a picture of the other side of the baseplate.
