I’m convinced of it. No lump from what I can feel but tender breast on and off stabbing pains , sharp tingly feelings in breast , now a sore lump under my arm pit that won’t go away I’m shaking and in tears I’m a single mum don’t know what to do

Sorry no lump in breast but sore one in armpit … so I think it’s spread now. I’m 26

Darling, it’s unlikely to be breast cancer. From what I know breast cancer typically usually hurt. My lymph nodes come up and down all the time- linked to new deodrant or new shower gel mainly. Have it checked out for your peace of mind, but im sure you’ll be okay 🤗

understatedeleganza · 06/07/2024 21:36

Um gently this sounds like health anxiety, not cancer. Go to the doctor to get referred for a scan absolutely. But you have almost no reason to suspect breast cancer and even less that it's spread. It's anxiety.

Imperrysmum · 06/07/2024 21:36

Also my sister had exact same symptoms as you, it was just a cyst. Very common. Try not to worry 🤗💗 everything is okay

bluejelly · 06/07/2024 21:36

Don't panic! Symptoms like that can happen and it's not cancer. Why don't you book a GP appt for reassurance?

bluejelly · 06/07/2024 21:37

Also 26 is very young for it to be breast cancer. Much more likely post-menopause.

Pinklove98 · 06/07/2024 21:40

Thank you. I have the implant so my periods are very irregular so I never know if it’s period related but this soreness has seemed to be going on for some time on and off and sometimes I randomly get a sharp prickly feeling in my breast, it only seems to happen in my left one.
I have had anxiety about my health is the past and I was once convinced that I had a melanoma but that was checked and was benign and I feel like I’m spiralling again

Have you done a pregnancy test? Very unlikely on the implant but the boob symptoms sound similar to how I was.

badwolf82 · 06/07/2024 21:52

I was told some years ago that cancerous lumps feel sharp and irregular, like a piece of coral. If what you’re feeling is round and smooth it’s most likely a cyst, especially if it hurts. I’ve had lots of cysts in my armpit area over the years, usually due to a blocked sweat gland, and they can be really painful.

Can you get an appointment with your GP to have it checked out during the upcoming week? It’s almost certainly nothing serious but there’s no harm in getting it checked.

In the meantime, have a look at this free resource on health anxiety: www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/Resources/Looking-After-Yourself/Health-Anxiety

I had this, OP, 30 years ago when I was the same age as you. It turned out to be a gland which had come up, as I had the first 'flu symptoms and took paracetamol. I remember the GP referring me to the Breast screening clinic, and the consultant wanted to operate the next week, and I was so frightened, I said prayers when I arrived home. Then, a day before the planned surgery, the painful lump disappeared ! I rang the clinic and was told to come back so they could check it out. Oh the relief, when the consultant said the lump was no more, and I was excused surgery ! Sending love and prayers Flowers

I had breast cancer in 2018, I had a lump in my armpit - but it was still considered to be local and had not spread. I had no pain with my lumps (there was one in my breast too)
The best thing you can do is book an appointment and get checked, but it could so easily be an inflamed lymph node or cyst (& at your age, they are a much more likely explanation)
Try not to worry about it whilst waiting for the GP appt and tests as you put yourself through it more than once, easier said than done, but as much as possible try to distract yourself. If it is something, you will deal with it. The NHS were fantastic with me and I am just over 5 years cancer free.
All the best and please do update after your appt. Good luck x

This is anxiety about your health. Pain itself can be hormone related or lots of other things. Breast cancer generally doesn’t present like this. Time to get the anxiety treated.

FarmGirl78 · 06/07/2024 23:32

I get sore swollen lumps in my armpits when I'm run down or have an infection. Now I know what it is I don't worry. It's like a little warning system of confirmation I need to rest and look after myself.

Doodlebugbop · 06/07/2024 23:52

The breast pain could be costochondritis (unsure of spelling), I had it so got checked out at the breast clinic and the pain was coming from the muscles between my ribs behind my breast but it felt like stabbing breast pain.

It's very unlikely to be breast cancer but it's worth getting it checked to put your mind at ease.
Health anxiety is awful and seems much worse when you have small children to worry about too

JurassicClark · 06/07/2024 23:57

If it's sore, that's actually good news. What your describing doesn't sound like breast cancer at all. Don't fret, OP.

dottiedodah · 06/07/2024 23:59

Hi OP. Sorry to hear you have been very worried. Please don't be.26 is very young
Most likely a cysr or similar. I waited 2 weeks with a lump .saw nurse practitioner all OK just needed drainage. 2 weeks of antibiotics and all good! Go 1st thing Monday. Don't worry 1bmore moment! X

OneFingerOneThumbKeepMoving · 07/07/2024 00:05

Concerns about our health are always much worse during the evening / night time. I'm a health anxiety sufferer so totally understand your thought process. It's good that you are aware of your history with anxiety, you can hopefully see your GP and then look for some help with your obtrusive thoughts. I know we are all different however I found CBT with a Psychologist really helpful. I hope you are feeling a little less anxious this evening. Sending you a virtual hug 🫂 💐

Ireolu · 07/07/2024 00:09

The probability of breast pain being breast cancer is very low. A breast lump is more relevant. All breast referrals are within 2 weeks. Painful lump in the armpit could suggest infection. Get checked out and referred. Shd all be OK.
