To ask about labour and UC

Apologies for being utterly uninformed in the political sense.

I head a dept in a very small charity that deals with low income families. All on UC. I know how the current system works/how to make calculations and estimations on awards for our clients.

Have labour announced if they are planning on making any notable changes to UC or anything affecting the lowest income households? If so, what are they and what are the general timelines for implementing?

Thanks!

No. They have committed to conservative spending plans for this parliament. There will be no magic money tree for Universal Credit.

Why are people asking these questions? They have barely walked in the door. It's almost summer recesse and they have no firm plans as of yet for changing any of the benefits, apart from cracking down on befit fraud. Which I believe they put in their manifesto. We will have to wait and see what happens I imagine nothing really major will happen until the autumn.

Our government doesn't work very quickly and never has.

I'm "asking these questions" for reasons pretty obvious from my OP?

I haven't read the manifesto. I haven't read up on proposals and potential news policies.

I didn't realise it needed to be clarified that they only got in today and obviously haven't announced anything at all since that point.
