Is it just me getting the hump with near enough every politician starting to answer every question with look or well look 😡

I always think it's code for 'this is the last I'll say on it, now shut up'. Really annoying. I'm a cranky sod though I grant you!

KnitnNatterAuntie · 05/07/2024 09:43

I find it aggravating when everyone uses the word 'so' at the beginning of a sentence

Another pet hate, but beloved of BBC newsreaders, is the overuse of the word 'those' ~ e.g. "We're just waiting for those guardsman to line the route down The Mall"

However the one that annoys me most of all is when food items have labels which say things like "Try me ~ I'm soft and juicy." Grrrrr😖

Bohomovies · 05/07/2024 11:06

I’ve noticed this as well. It’s so patronising!

goldenlloyd · 05/07/2024 11:09

"Let me be clear" is worse. Politicians or idiots on Twitter - you know what's coming next will be sanctimonious guff 😂

Poggishairtufts · 05/07/2024 11:13

Found more and more politicians saying this during this campaign and I find it incredibly condescending and I instantly lose respect for whoever is speaking.

At least they're giving you fair warning 😂

YANBU. It is a rude and contagious habit.

wtfissummer · 05/07/2024 11:22

YANBU

Anyone starting with "look" or "listen" is instantly ignored.

RabbitsRock · 05/07/2024 11:33

Always hated that

SharpWriter · 05/07/2024 13:29

'Look' sounds like they don't think you've been listening or you're an idiot. Always annoyed me too.

malmi · 05/07/2024 17:16

They should switch it up and try "Listen". That would be ruder. Or other senses. "Smell". That would throw the interviewer off.

😂😂😂😂😂

TwoThousandAcresofBlueSkyThinking · 05/07/2024 18:10

It gets on my tits. I get the impression the people who use look to start their answer think they're more knowledgeable than the questioner and their answer is the be all and end all. Well they can fuck off.

Teddleshon · 05/07/2024 18:17

It’s a common thing in Australia and I’ve always found it rather agressive - don’t like it!
