My work laptop keeps crashing and freezing, AIBU?

My work laptop crashes multiple times a day, where the software I am using will close without warning and I'll lose my work and have to work out what it has lost, and then repeat the work. I save my work regularly as I go, but even losing a few minutes of work here and there adds up. Some functions that I need to use for my job will just freeze and not work. It is so frustrating, and is impacting my productivity. I do have to work with large documents open, but surely the laptop should be able to withstand that?

I have spoken with IT, sent over error files and crash reports and they have tried lots of things to fix it, but nothing has made any difference.

AIBU to think surely there must be something that can be done?

It sounds basic but do you shut down your computer at the end of the day? If you always leave it on ‘sleep’ it does lead to issues.

Do your colleagues using the same software have issues?

If you were given a refurbished/someone else’s laptop originally I would push for a new laptop. I would also look at what model you have to see if it’s powerful.
