For those of you who aren't aware of Project 2025, it's a set of right wing proposals to give more power/autonomy to the American president.

I had dismissed it as a load of twaddle but , now that the possibility of a Trump presidency seems more likely, I'm quite worried it might be put into practice.

Is this just another conspiracy theory and AIBU to worry?
or, is this actually a serious threat to democracy in the US and therefore IANBU to be concerned?

I just mentioned this on the thread about a possible civil war in America. I read through this the other day..... 😧 OMG!! If this is true, and I say if, then we should expect Americans with European heritage to be applying for dual citizenship and moving away to escape the madness....

And I thought the world couldn't get any more crazy....😩

You are not being unreasonable in the slightest. I think many people are so absorbed with domestic politics that the bigger, and frankly far more worrying developments are being largely missed or repackaged as gossip points, like last week’s Biden/ Trump debate.

To be fair, when I was sent a link to it I initially dismissed it. But in the light of the Court ruling giving the president immunity from prosecution under certain circumstances, and the likelihood of Trump beating Biden in November, I went back and read up on it again.

It's truly frightening.

My FiL and his wife live in the US. He is British and his wife has UK citizenship. I can't see them moving here, they are in their 90s. But I think you're right, many people with dual nationality may well move if they can.
