I hate my job. After working for a few years I resigned today without another job to go in to and I have 6 months worth of bills in savings

Have I been unreasonable or has anyone ever done this

I’ve done it.
didn’t go down well at future interviews so prepare a lie!

opalsandcoffee · 01/07/2024 20:21

you should find a job before leaving a job - obviously

Spicygirl35 · 01/07/2024 20:21

@dizzyupthegirl86 really why?
I get its not great but if you've resigned and worked your notice surely you've been fair to the employer?

DH did it once. It nearly caused a divorce!!
I hope you find a job you love (or at least mildly enjoy) very quickly.

Sunnydiary · 01/07/2024 20:23

I have done it! I had to give three months notice so had plenty of time to get another job.

Chances are you will find something fairly quickly as you have that incentive. Don’t worry about it. Your savings are a cushion, and the new job will come…

Spicygirl35 · 01/07/2024 20:23

@Hoglet70 really hope you both ok and thank you

I did this 2 years ago, and I’m in my 50s. I had to work 3 months notice and I had no problem finding a job to move straight into. I am a qualified accountant working in education finance. Good luck, life is far too short to be miserable at work.

Spicygirl35 · 01/07/2024 20:26

@Strumpetpumpet thank you thats what makes me feel better about it as I quite anxious but I agree life is short
