To think this is weird to be on your IG bio

My 15-yo god daughter has got several IG accounts and one was suggested to me the other day. It’s open so I had a look and it’s the usual teenage stuff, moody pics of her smoking in the park etc. But I noticed in her bio is a link to her PayPal account with a tag line about her needing money. My question is if this is normal? It seems to me to be making her totally vulnerable to people offering her money to do whatever. I haven’t mentioned this to her mum yet as I wanted to know if this is usual on teenagers Social media. If it is, I’ll leave alone but AIBU to be a bit concerned?

If it was my daughter, I would be. But I know her mum very well and her reply would be that she did the same and worse at her age. I myself mucked about with smoking at that age. It’s the vulnerability of the money issue that concerns me most and she’s quite vulnerable…street-wise but vulnerable.

Her parents need to know. She's ripe for grooming, sending nudes in exchange for money. This actually is a safeguarding concern and as an adult you need to act.

Maybe one is the squeaky clean one and the other is the one she doesn’t let her mum follow. But it’s open so who knows what she’s thinking?

If you feel awkward about it, could you approach her parents and frame it in the same way you’ve done here - as in ‘I must be out of touch! Is that what teens do these days, have a link to their PayPal a/c for people to donate?’ See what their reaction is.

Do you have her mum's email address? Rather than broach the subject openly, I'd send the mother a link to the Not Safe For Parental Viewing IG account from an anonymous email account.
