Yesterday I was returning home from Tenerife south airport and took my iPad out to charge. We were sitting in a bar next to Burger King that was like an Irish bar.

The flight was delayed and we’d been up early and travelling for hours and we weren’t expecting to get called to the gate for at least another 45 minutes. Suddenly everyone got up and left and in the haste to leave and due to exhaustion the iPad got left on the table. I thought DP he picked it up and he thought I had.

It wasn’t new but it was the last present my mum bought me before she died so has huge sentimental value and I’m devastated I’ve left it.

I contacted the airport who are insisting it’s not there but I’m tracking it from find iPhone and can see it is. A lovely lady from cabin crew took my details and said she’d try to track it down but as a last resort I thought I’d post on here because it’s possible someone might be going to Tenerife and be in the airport and might be able to track it down. It doesn’t seem to have moved from where I left it.

The screenshot is the find iPhone location and it was in a Moroccan style multi coloured case. The screen saver is my Asian partner but it only had 30% charge so will likely go flat soon.

I know it’s unlikely that anyone will be passing the airport but I just thought I’d try as I’m sure I’m not the first person to accidentally lose something precious and if I could help someone in the same way I’d do everything I could.

If I don’t find it I’ll have to claim on insurance but I’m trying everything I can first.

I have put it in lost mode and left a message on the screen with my phone number to contact me if it’s found. I’m hoping it’ll be handled in because it’s useless to anyone in lost mode.

It’s a long shot but please can anyone help?

Bump for those of us who can't sleep.

Vettrianofan · 29/06/2024 04:03

I feel sure someone going to Tenerife will save the day! Everything crossed for you OP.

SofiaAmes · 29/06/2024 04:16

Maybe have the title to the thread change to "Are you passing through Tenerife?" and the date.
Also have you tried Googling the phone number for the Burger King or the Irish bar or seeing if either of them have an Instagram page.

That is good advice, I’ll see if I can change the title, thank you.

yes I’ve tried contacting them but no luck so this was my last resort.

I know mumsnet has a reputation but I’ve always found that when people have genuine need everyone has been so supportive.

Have a look on Facebook to see if there are any Tenerife groups on there that you could post on? Maybe join some of the groups for the big hotels out there and post in them?

Also there are forums on tripadvisor - so again could be worth a post on a Tenerife forum.

Hope you manage to get it back OP x

Not going but just wanted to bump and say good luck x

windysocks · 29/06/2024 05:34

You could do a tik tok video and tag all the places in this airport ? Also hashtag Tenerife, holiday (or whatever the young people tag when they travel!🤣) good luck!

YouveGotAFastCar · 29/06/2024 05:37

My husband had this in Madrid with an SLR. For some reason hung it on the chair, and didn’t bring it when we boarded the plane. He realised immediately but couldn’t get off the plane; and the flight attendants said they had no way of contacting the airport. Airport were rubbish, they kept saying it was no longer there even though the tracker said it hadn’t moved.

He never did get it back, which is a shame as it was lovely, very sentimental to him, and it’s impacted on his opinion of our Madrid holiday.

They did suggest we flew back and looked for it; which seemed silly at the time, but I wish one of us had now, Prepare yourself for that suggestion!

My fingers are crossed that it’s back with you soon x

CalicoPusscat · 29/06/2024 12:19

Any luck @Minimili?

Moier · 29/06/2024 12:20

Go onto a Teneriffe forum on Facebook.
They are pretty good at things like this.

Minimili · 29/06/2024 14:27

Thank you so much for all the suggestions, unfortunately I’ve still had no luck and the airport are still denying it’s there.

I’ve heard nothing back from the flight attendant who took details down.

It looks like I will have to put in an insurance claim.

I have just checked my emails and had the following reply

Dear Mrs Mini
After reviewing our records for the second time, we regret to inform you that there is no record of your iPad.
However, despite your story, the area indicated by the GPS location corresponds to the airline offices at this airport.
Have you already tried to contact your flight operator?
A greeting.

They really aren’t being helpful and the location is still showing the same place.

That’s such a shame your husband didn’t get it back. I understand why his opinion of the holiday was impacted as I feel a bit like that now.

I don’t understand how the airports can deny it’s not there when the location clearly shows it is!

I can’t afford to fly back to get it or I would. I hope the flight attendant who offered to help can possibly locate it.

Are you on Facebook? That Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas group is MASSIVE, I've seen things like this on it before. Good luck!

BlueMum16 · 29/06/2024 14:53

Try Twitter. Tag the airport and airlines you flew with. Ask for Re-tweets. Tag Burger King.

Why don't you email the Irish Bar or contact them on Facebook? Maybe a member of staff can go and find it?
