Wedding present for wedding abroad?

So it's costing me a fortune to go to friends wedding in France. Flights nearly 400 then accommodation then meal the night before which is 40 per person - so 80 for me and my son. Plus another meal on the Sunday night. I appreciate we have to eat but it's all adding up! Should I be looking for a present. Wouldn't have a clue what to get. Very wealthy couple who seem to have everything I could ever think of.

I wouldn’t.

People having destination weddings shouldn't expect a gift.
I have to say though, we attended an out of town wedding needing a long journey and hotel stay. I actually forgot the card, but the married couple "chased" because they were surprised I haven't given and we apparently worried that the card and cash had been lost! 🤣

Your gift to them is your presence. They don't need a present.

I think it's a bit cheeky expecting people to travel and also a present. I would take a lovely card with a personal message.
