Being told you're unreasonable in AIBU

Why is it such an issue for posters, if someone posts in AIBU and doesn't ' accept ' they're unreasonable?

Why can't someone post in AIBU to ask a question, then read the replies and decide that they stick to their original opinion and don't change their mind- even if some people have said they're unreasonable. The reasons that people have come up with to explain the ' unreasonableness ' don't make sense to the OP, so they just stick to their original thought.

Sometimes it becomes such a mob for the OP, people make assumptions or twist their words and it all escalates and goes beyond / away from the original question.

I find the responses saying ' why did you post then if you weren't going to change your mind 'a bit lame.

Maybe the person posted and after reading the replies just doesn't agree with them for various reasons:

1 . Posters clearly all want to join in sticking it to the OP

  1. Posters misconstrue what was even said and don't read properly
  1. Posters make huge assumptions
  1. Posters are just out and out nasty
  1. Posters accuse OP of lying / making stuff up

I think if the responses are more measured, the OP can sometimes ' admit ' they see the other side, but often it's just clearly a bunch of posters wanting to ruffle feathers / cause upset / feel like superior keyboard warriors.

AIBU (-; ?

I wouldn't take a majority seriously

Usually when it’s being questioned it’s because 90% of people have said YABU but the OP still refuses to consider any side other than their initial one. If you are 100% sure you’re right and nothing is going to sway you, why even bother posting? It just seems pointless to ask for opinions if you aren’t actually going to take them on board.

YABU to post a list 5 of reasons and number them all 1. What about 2, 3, 4 and 5 😂

I get it but even then. They may not have been 100 percent sure when they posted, but the replies just didn't sway it for them and that doesn't mean they should ' never have bothered ' posting.

Maybe they read everything very intently and get that a lot of people think they're unreasonable, but for them - they're just not being unreasonable.

It's a debate / discussion about a situation and I still think it's worth the debate, even if OP doesn't agree with the majority.

Yabvvvvvvvunreasonable with that answer. What about the other 1? Or even, if you like debating the merits of the other options, you could go with 1?

😆

Because sometimes it's really obvious that the person who is posting, 100 per cent doesn't think they are being unreasonable and you can tell in their responses for example if someone says to the op they are being unreasonable and the op comes back with a post so strong that it belongs in a court case for the defence of a murder charge 😂... it's like well if you're that secure in your head about it (which is perfectly fine of course ) why you asking if you're being unreasonable.
