Anglian water offering tiny compensation

Hi so long story short Anglian water have billed me for 2 years to a home i have never lived at or even known about, the only way i knew was when i went to apply for a mortgage but was denied due to a default from anglian water that was put on my credit report a year ago, I called anglian water to complain as this is not the first time this has happened they have done this twice previously, but as they had a forwarding address when they billed me i contacted them on both occasions and provided council tax bills and other utility bills to prove i was not responsible and that was the end of them both, but no apologies from them. but this time like i said i have a default, i have managed to provide proof once again that i was not living at this property but it has ruined a perfectly good credit score and anglian water have said we are sorry but we do not offer compensation for stress or ruining your credit score so here is £50 now be on your way, I’m at a loss on what to do, do you think this is fair ? I feel like once is mistake twice is a pee take and a third time i’m seriously thinking are anglian water harassing me lol..any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

No it's not fair. A bad credit score could potentially cost you thousands of pounds.

This sets alarm bells ringing. An account being opened in your name 3 times sounds like more than an error, it sounds deliberate. Is some doing this on purpose? You may be a victim of identity fraud

no i have contacted anglian water and on all 3 occasions the accounts were not opened in my name it was anglian water themselves that have decided to put the bill in my name for what ever reason i don’t know that’s what i’m trying to find out.

How much do you want? Ask them for their final offer before you take it to the financial Ombudsman.

That's the thing, I don't know what to ask for as obviously I'm going to have to wait for 3 month before I can re-aply for a mortgage so effectively stuck renting for 6 months longer than I should have been, and then there has been all the stress and hastle I just don't know what seems fair.
