Help me loose my baby weight

Posting in AIBU for traffic as the weight loss chat seems a bit quieter.

Slightly misleading title as I wasn't where I wanted to be weight wise before I got pregnant so I actually want to lose 2 and a half stone in total. I put on just over a stone during pregnancy (not including actual baby) and I've lost 8lbs so far and I'm 12 weeks post partum.

I would love to finish my maternity leave and go back to work feeling slim and confident, not chunky and frumpy but I'm finding it difficult. I am eating between 1400 and 1600 calories and have been to the gym a couple of times when my husband has been home from work and able to watch the baby. However, I had my first night out at the weekend, ate some buffet food and and a few glasses of prosecco and I put 4lbs of the 8lbs I had lost back on. It's very disheartening as I'm not sure what I did wrong, I didn't have THAT much, just a couple of sandwich quarters and a couple of sausage rolls. Surely that doesn't warrant a 4lb gain?

Any tips/advice would be appreciated!

That won’t have been 4 lbs of fat just water retention due to carby food.
ive tried keto and dropped weight quickly and kept it off then it’s crept back again, but my body seems to be used to that now so I’ve just started omad and eating what I want and how ever much I want but only in an hour window a day- it’s much more fun than keto as I’m having sweet treats and desserts. So far down 3 lbs in a week, so will update! Already feel my clothes fitting better though

Ps I’d also ditch scales and use measurements
I have been visibly slimmer and people noticing etc and not seen the scales budge much and was getting so disheartened
I try to go for how my clothes fit now

Are you breastfeeding? I am 12 weeks PP too and also want to go back to work slim and confident but struggling because i’m bloody starving all the time!

Luluem · 27/06/2024 22:55

I found it impossible to lose weight BFing as I was constantly starving, you might find it drops off easier after you’ve stopped

Threetrees745 · 28/06/2024 02:45

No, I'm bottle feeding, have never breastfed. Still starving all the time though 😫

Have you been eating low carb? That kind of weight gain from one day sounds like carb reintroduction.

Mumof1andacat · 28/06/2024 05:37

Do you weigh and measure everything you eat and track it?

Not low carb but definitely less carbs than previous so that does make sense!

Yes, I'm using the nutracheck app and weighing everything where possible. Obviously I wasn't able to do that on my night out but I did feel my portion was small. I had 3 sandwich quarters, two mini sausage rolls and a chicken satay stick.
