Or is it unreasonable to be stroppy just because it's hot?

Had the privilege of visiting an outdoor garden centre with my sister today. I say this light heartedly as usually she's very lovely but she was foul today😂I tried and tried to make pleasant conversation but I was snapped at and moaned at all day, I parked too far away from the centre so she had to walk in the heat, I needed to get back to take my neighbour to her sons ( elderly and doesn't drive ) so I had dragged her out in the sun and got her all hot for nothing, she argued with her DH who is lovely on the phone because he suggested they eat dinner outside tonight and DOESN'T HE REALISE HOW HOT IT IS. Lotos of huffing and fanning herself all day. Eventually I laughed when she drank out of her water bottle and poured it on herself like Usain Bolt after a run and telling her to get a grip dissolved what had been a very hostile few hours shopping. She did laugh too...then moaned a bit more! All is well now, it's cooled down a bit and she's messaged to say she had a lovely day and as I say this is light hearted but please does anyone else know someone who can't handle a bit of sun? How do you deal with it?! I absolutely adore the heat!

I don’t know where you are in the UK but it wasn’t hot at all in the south east today!! Wore a jacket!

I think the heat can make the best of us cranky, especially if you don't sleep well in it.

So I vote YABU 😂

I'm a grumpy grouch in the heat too. But it's been a bearable 22 degrees here. Unlike yesterday which was hotter than hell.

I'm like your sister unless I'm abroad on a beach near the sea.😊

Fairyliz · 27/06/2024 19:42

Yes my DH; he does nothing but groan and sigh from morning to evening when it’s hot.
If it doesn’t cool down next week that patio will be being relaid.

Heat can make people a bit grumpy but I don't think it's reasonable to use it as an excuse for snapping at people who haven't actually done anything.

Itsprobablynotcominhome · 27/06/2024 19:48

I'm adhd and asd and have huuuge sensory issues around getting hot and sweaty, i would probably default to behaving how your sister did. so going outside at the peak of the day to go round a garden centre isn't something I'd agree to because no, it's not ok for people to behave how your sister did!

I'm definitely an Autumn/Spring type as I love the sun but not heat over 25. But I never strop or gripe about the few hot days we get in the summer (in the UK). It's so short-lived and so very many people get great pleasure from it I just feel happy for them.

People who moan and complain and act like toddlers when everything isn't going perfectly right for them deserve to be unceremoniously dumped imo.
