To ask how much people drink on special occasions?

Not coming from a place of judgement, but I don't really drink anymore (2 and I'm done), so I'm finding it hard to plan and budget for a family reunion I'm hosting.

I also don't see most of them very often, nor do I know a polite way to ask 'how pissed do you like to get?'

I know it depends on the person so kind of 'how long is a piece of string'... but would you say it's not that unusual for someone to drink right through a lunch, into the afternoon and evening (alongside a bit more food).

I could have done that as a youngster but it's been so long I really can't imagine that anymore! Feel silly asking!

If it's a drinky party then in that timescale a bottle of wine each is probably being conservative.

If it’s an afternoon into evening do - then drinkers will drink yes . if you’re into wine then a few bottles per person ( about 3 glasses is one bottle )
Beer/cider drinkers - 8 cans /bottles each

And I would also expect people to bring their own .

I hosted for 12 adults recently and our booze order was:

6 bottles of white
6 bottles of red
6 bottles of Prosecco
16 bottles of peroni
18 Budweisers

We had loads left over- people brought a bottle or two and some were driving (don't forget soft drinks!)

We would absolutely go to a friend's house at 3pm and drink through until we left at midnight. DH would take a load of beers, I'd take a couple of bottles of prosecco and we'd have cocktails and shots too.

We obviously don't do this every weekend but love a blowout every few months 😁

I never drink more than one alcoholic drink….usually a glass of wine….then I’m done
