How to check if a company name is trademarked?

Are companies able to have a same name as another business?

Not if they are trademarked and sell/provide similar services. I only have basic knowledge (disclaimer!)

Go to the ipo and run a search. You could have the same name so long as it’s unlikely to cause confusion and you aren’t within the same class. There are roughly 50 classes of goods and services.

Trademarked, or Limited? You absolutely cannot use a name already taken by a Limited company. To find this out, you can search company names on the Companies House website.
