To chase a Job Application?

Shyshay · 25/06/2024 14:48

Applied last week to a Role that would suit Me perfectly, Hours, location, wage, and exactly the route I want to take based on my current experience.
Interviews for role are being held next Tuesday throughout the day, I've (sadly) had no reply to my application.
There is a contact number on the application to call with any questions relating to the role, WIBU unreasonable to make a quick call to ask about my application? Or is that too much!??

What have you got to loose?

Personally, if it were me and the job was so perfect I would definitely give them a call.

Good luck OP

There is no reason why you shouldn't. But it's only Tuesday today, so I'd probably give them until (say) Thursday morning, to allow for shortlisting and for them to begin to contact people for interview. Bear in mind that at lot of employers don't bother to send rejections these days, though.

Tbh, I would leave it a few more days, because chasing is unlikely to affect whether you're selected or not, but it could affect your negotiating position further down the line if they sense that you're extremely keen on this job specifically (or they might think you're desperate to jump ship - either way, the effect on your negotiating strength is the same).

I know it's frustrating but I'd try to leave it and take your mind off it with other applications (or something more interesting if you like!).

If they want to interview you, they'll let you know.

Thanks for the replies Smile
I know I'm being far too eager but just excited.. I'll give it until Thursday then maybe drop them a call!
