This bloody awful cough

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 24/06/2024 19:09

Anyone else tearing their hair out now? Both my kids have also started throwing up over the last couple of days despite having had the cough for 5 weeks already. I need sleep, I’m supposed to be going away this weekend for something I’ve been really looking forward to for months, I WANT IT TO STOP! Sad

Just a moan thread, no need for snippy replies about how ‘ranting won’t do anything about it’ and ‘illness is a fact of life’

:(

We have the awful cough here and it just feels never ending. It’s been at least 13 weeks any counting…

FragileWookiee · 24/06/2024 19:15

I still have a lingering cough. 🤚🏼 Started on 30th April. Worse when I go walking outside. Kids have it also. Quite tired with it.

Tara336 · 24/06/2024 19:15

I caught a cold beginning of April its only in the last week or two that I've actually stopped coughing it was driving me mad at one point I was struggling at work as couldn't hold a conversation without coughing all the way through. Someone suggested I may have had COVID again but I didn't test so not sure

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 24/06/2024 19:53

It’s fucking miserable, I’ve had 2 kids in the last 5 years and my life has been frankly ruined by fucking viral illnesses and bugs. Christmases, birthdays, holidays, weekends, days out - all fucking ruined. It’s ruining my life

Us too. Driving me batshit.

CinnamonTart · 24/06/2024 20:34

It isn’t the 100 day cough is it? Ie Whooping cough - apparently a significant number of people don’t gain long term immunity despite having the vax

BashfulClam · 24/06/2024 20:44

Covid is rife again, I had it two weeks ago. I tested because I was in close contact with some vulnerable people.

Fluffytoebeanz · 24/06/2024 20:47

DD was tested for Whooping cough and it wasn't but was given antibiotics and slept for 36 hours. She's still coughing though not as badly.

lipglossandmascara · 24/06/2024 21:26

My LO has had it too. Coughing til she throws up. Awful.

MyDogsPaws · 24/06/2024 21:30

My dd had the coughing until she throws up thing and I took her to the drs in case it was an asthma exacerbation. She ended up testing positive for whooping cough which I was surprised about as I didn’t realise people really got whooping cough anymore! My older dd had the cough too before her and still has it weeks later but it doesn’t sound so much like whooping cough but it must be just from the length of time it’s lasted!

memoriesofamiga · 24/06/2024 21:37

My DD has had it for weeks too. She was tested for whooping cough, which was negative (and while we waited for the results the doc said she was fine to carry on going to school which I thought was odd), but the cough hasn't gone. Now whooping cough is ruled out the docs aren't interested and just said 'it's a virus'. I'm wondering if shes developed hay-fever as symptoms seem worse when we've been out rurally. No idea otherwise as the rest of the household is fine...

I trot this out on here all the time but....

PROBIOTICS!

get them (really high at least 10billion ones) and take them daily. The whole family without fail. On top of that you also need really good multivits and vit D when it's not sunny. You have to be consistent but you'll see illness drop significantly.

Lolapusht · 24/06/2024 21:40

🙋🏻‍♀️ We’re on week 6.

I succumbed last week.

Done with the incessant coughing and feeling hideous.

It can feck off!!!!

HcbSS · 24/06/2024 21:40

When I was at uni I got a chain cold - one illness, got better, then another a week later. I coughed so much I got a hairline fracture in my rib. No joke I was as surprised as the doctor when we saw the xray we both thought it would be a muscle.

Procrastination4 · 24/06/2024 21:45

Just back a week from a trip abroad with a group. Many of them were coughing towards the end of the trip and have since tested positive for Covid. Back in May, there was something else going around, again with really bad coughing, and people I know who had it needed one or two rounds of steroids to clear it. I’m sorry for the people currently suffering with coughs-especially those of you with children who have it. It must be very wearying for you all.

PeloMom · 24/06/2024 21:48

I hear you. Every resp season and then some sucks since had a kid. It’s never ending
