So, we were returning from visiting a relative on the other end of the country. We saw a nice restaurant when we stopped at a town for fuel. It was expensive, the bill came to £76 for 2 adults and a child. We rounded it to £80 to include a tip, and continued our journey. I was feeling a little guilty, £80 for one simple meal and the food wasn’t great too !!
After about 20mins, DS began to feel sick. This never happens, he really likes to go in the car. we stopped on the hardshoulder. DS didn’t get off, but I got off and opened his door. He felt ok in 2 mins (didn’t throw up). Just as I was about to get back in, I spotted £10 notes. 6 of them. And next to them was a torn £20.
£80 in total.

WHAT ARE THE ODDS? I’m freaking out!!

NOTE: I’m not keeping the money. Will be donating it to charity..

Coincidence

ILikeALemonWedgeInMyGin · 24/06/2024 18:25

Amazing coincidence.
Also why not just keep it.

boredm · 24/06/2024 18:29

You manifested that money keep it

ArgonautCycle · 24/06/2024 18:30

Why on earth would you think it was paranormal? It's just a coincidence!

Someone else pulled over on the hard shoulder for the same reason you did, or because of engine trouble, or a flat tyre or whatever, and either pulled a phone out of their pocket, dislodging the money, or it blew out from one of the seat pockets (when we've been seeing relatives, our DS often ends the trip with a stash of paper money in the seat pocket behind the passenger seat, and has definitely lost some before when he opened the door).

No paranormal explanation needed. It's weird that you think it is!

Screamingabdabz · 24/06/2024 18:33

What is remotely paranormal about it?

Sparkletastic · 24/06/2024 18:36

Coincidence

Keep the money

boredm · 24/06/2024 18:36

@Blouson no

NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/06/2024 18:37

Pure, blind luck.

JaneJeffer · 24/06/2024 18:37

Go back and give them a proper tip

PeonySeasons · 24/06/2024 18:38

Keep the money.

Time40 · 24/06/2024 18:39

Oh, keep the money, for goodness' sake!

TheShellBeach · 24/06/2024 18:39

Sorry, what's paranormal about your finding money randomly?

Sprinkles211 · 24/06/2024 18:45

The body the came from is probably lying in the ditch

Whitesky75 · 24/06/2024 18:46

It’s so weird that we stopped randomly and found exactly the amount I was stressing about.

Finding money is one of lifes simplest pleasures

Exactlab · 24/06/2024 18:54

Why would you donate to charity??

Blouson · 24/06/2024 18:55

Probably drug money. I hope you had a good root around for more!

OnAndOnAndonAgain · 24/06/2024 18:55

JaneJeffer · 24/06/2024 18:37

Go back and give them a proper tip

Why? Op says it was expensive and not very nice

Barleysugar86 · 24/06/2024 18:58

Why wouldn't you keep it? The £80 was stressing you out so you must need it yourself.

Nchanged89 · 24/06/2024 19:00

So why are you going to give it to charity?

LeggyLinda · 24/06/2024 19:01

Total coincidence if you ask me. And a common denomination for “deals”. Though, hard shoulder of a busy road is a bit weird - but prime location to be spotted and a quick getaway I suppose.

Like others have said though, that is a shit tip (I know that’s not the point of the thread).

Dotto · 24/06/2024 19:04

Why should OP have tipped for ANY reason, let alone a horrible experience? This isn't the US.

Anyway, no such thing as paranormal, just a coincidence.

piningforautumn · 24/06/2024 19:14

I'd keep the money. (And the tip seems fair enough for what doesn't sound like a particularly wonderful dining experience, even if it had been in the US. People have been brainwashed into believing that leaving a hefty tip is obligatory; it is not.)

Testina · 24/06/2024 19:21

“Freaking out” is just ridiculous.
It’s just a coincidence.

Why were you stressing about the £80 anyway? How good the food was has no bearing on whether you could afford to spend £80. Having seen the price you shouldn’t have ordered if you couldn’t afford it.

I’m sure you’re keeping the money, just trying to avoid any replies saying you’re thieving 🤣
