Did thick bleach used to be thicker?!

Thrilling Monday afternoon musings I know, but I just popped some bleach under the toilet and it felt very thin and watery. I’m sure it used to be much more of a gel consistency.

Mainly looking to hear from the bleach lovers rather than the ‘You’ve poisoned your family and the entire eco system!’ Crew.

I’m actually with you on this!

Same

alittlehopeisadangerousthing · 24/06/2024 20:21

Yes it did

Nomorecoconutboosts · 24/06/2024 20:22

Yes it used to be like hair gel consistency
now the branded thick version is like the supermarket thin version used to be.
annoying as it means more needs to be used and it doesn’t cling now it just runs away.

I thought this recently!

As a bleech novice may I ask what the benefit of thick beech is over thin bleech?

Diversion · 24/06/2024 20:29

It was very watery during Covid when it was rationed. Tesco own brand is still pretty thick, but I have noticed that it does vary from month to month and that some batches are more watery than others.

I know what you mean, and bizarrely, the exact opposite has happened with politicians. They are just thicker and thicker now and, AND I am one!
How weird is that?

i liked the thick gel consistency bleach as it would hold on to the sides of the toilet bowl and work it’s way down, you didn’t have to use too much at all.

Now I find it’s being used much more quickly as it pours out faster and doesn’t actually sit against the wall of the toilet bowl, just sinks into the water.

I seee. Thank you

Yes I think so. I used some at the weekend and thought it seemed very thin.

Goingasteady30 · 25/06/2024 07:21

Yep by and large most bleaches are thinner now I agree inparticular the own brand ones. Domestos is still very thick I find. Used it recently and thought they made it thicker in fact. Its like glue. Tesco bleach is decent thickness I find too. Aldi bleach in the grey bottle used to be decent too but they've certainly thinned that one out recently.

Mrsjayy · 25/06/2024 07:24

I think it's a marketing ploy so you buy more, I agree with you thick bleach is a lie !
