If you like this AIBU, I think you’d all love to look on Reddit at the ‘AmItheAsshole’ and ‘AITAH’ subreddits as they’re pretty similar to this and very entertaining to waste time on

OP posts:

I used to spend a lot of time reading through them for entertainment but I think most are made up now. It’s the same story with a few details changed and loads are written by AI now.

I prefer mumsnet as it’s uk based and not just teenagers using AI for upvotes.

I like the way on mumsnet that people do generally offer a lot of support and advice for things people post that they would never open up about in real life.

I do find it’s more balanced on Reddit and people offer advice without being bitchy and jumping on the OP and trying to belittle them. I’ve seen some amazing advice offered but also my heart sinks when someone who is clearly vulnerable and is looking for support gets a total kicking.

I don’t think people realise how hurtful words can be, it’s like being kind doesn’t matter because it’s anonymous and they forget it’s a real person behind the screen.

I think these AIBU and AITA threads need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I have seen posts that seem completely genuine with the OP being accused of it being fake. The good thing about mumsnet is that troll hunting isn’t allowed, I got sick of wading through the hundreds of posts on Reddit accusing the OP of lying.

It's well known on here, pretty much all of it is faked.
