Covid in very early pregnancy - anyone?

Posting for traffic.

Found out I was pregnant last Monday at 11dpo, starting feeling unwell at 12dpo which developed into full blown covid on Tuesday night. I had 1 night of fever (not very high) and a day in bed unable to move, and am slowly getting better now on day 7 but still exhausted and very snotty. I’m 4 weeks pregnant today.

Did anyone else have covid this early in pregnancy and were their babies ok?

It's nothing more than a cold really unless you're severely immuno compromised. You'll be fine.

Hello
Yes I had Covid when I was 10 or 11 weeks pregnant, and I had it quite mild, very tired, loss of taste and smell etc
my baby born healthy and fine

Thank you - that’s a relief!

It has affected me much worse than a cold (was the same last time I had it in 2021) - I’ve been floored for days. Just worried that at this early stage it might cause birth defects or something, but doesn’t sound like that is the case thankfully.

Bear in mind very few people test now (in my experience) so likely there’s lots of women who’ve had it and not known. Unless you’re severely unwell I wouldn’t worry

This happened to me in October. In the morning, my pregnancies test was positive and in the evening my COVID test was positive. For me, it was just a cold. My baby was born 3 weeks ago & has no birth defects. Try not to worry, speaking as someone who had two miscarriages before this, we have no control over these things anyway & worrying about something which is highly unlikely to happen makes little sense. (I know it is difficult not to).

Thank you! Yeah I initially thought it was just a bad cold or maybe flu and only tested with a random test we had in the house because I still felt grim after days.

Ive found a lot of stuff online about how 6 weeks is a crucial point and fevers can be bad for the baby at that stage, but nothing for the 3-4 week mark, probably because so few people even know they are pregnant at that point.

Got pregnant with DD2 while DP and I both had covid -not much else to do when you're isolating 😂

Baby is nearly 17 months old now and no concerns at all

Dont worry about it, just rest stay hydrated etc, all the usual

Also, congratulations! 💐

mammabing · 24/06/2024 18:59

Firstly, congratulations!
I was 7 weeks pregnant when I got COVID.
It was amazing actually - I had a full 10 days without morning sickness because I couldn’t smell or taste anything. I was a little disappointed when it went and the morning sickness came back! 😂
Baby was absolutely fine, no complications whatsoever. I rang the midwife just to check and she said there was nothing to worry about but what to watch out for. I’d recommend contacting someone at the local midwifery team for reassurance.

Had it at 6 weeks pregnant back in 2022, was my first time catching covid. Felt awful, first trimester symptoms just hitting.

He's now 18mo and there were no issues during pregnancy

rainbowbaby2 · 24/06/2024 19:27

I had it at 6 months pregnant so a bit further along but I can't lie- it felt awful!! Really wiped me out. Think it lasted 10 days and then some.
Healthy 2 year old boy now.

ImpatienceOfASaint · 24/06/2024 19:33

Yes - had it severely when I was about 6-7 weeks. He’s now 10.5 months old 😊congratulations and hope you feel better soon!

Caffeineneedednow · 24/06/2024 19:35

I had it later in my first trimester like 9-10 weeks I think. It was not fun but it did no harm baba is now 1 and a half and doing great

PregnantNowScrewed · 24/06/2024 20:08

Thanks so much for the responses - very reassuring. And also for the congrats - I haven’t told anyone in real life yet (apart from DH, who is terrified - this will be dc3) and have been feeling so ill and worried about stuff I haven’t had a chance to feel happy yet!
