Celine Dion?

Great voice. Nothing against the woman but I don’t listen to her music.

I’ve started car sharing with a colleague. Two days a week, I pay for the petrol/psrking on the second day. She passes my house on her way.

This started last week. She instantly asked if I liked Celine Dion, I said I wasn’t really fan and she proceeded to go through her entire playlist on Spotify and asked if I knew each one,

On the second day she played me videos on her phone she’d taken at a Celine Dion concert. On the way back she had a YouTube set playing of herself singing Celine Dion songs.

I can’t take much more! I was close to jumping out the car.

She sounds like a right loon! Reminds me a bit of years ago when I got a lift from someone, who proceeded to quiz me about her favourite singe, Lisa Stansfield. I swear, she seemed to take it as a personal insult that I just shrugged, and didn't show unbridled enthusiasm. Some people are just weird like that. 🤷‍♀️

Perhaps she regrets the arrangement and has found a creative way to scare you off? 😂

CyanideShake · 23/06/2024 18:55

don't worry. lean into it. in a week's time you'll be bellowing 'my heart will go onnnnnn and onnnnnnn'.

AmelieTaylor · 23/06/2024 18:56

Join in the singing, badly, see how long it takes her to prefer silence?

I was going to say YABU as we all have different music tastes, but if you've said you don't really listen to her/like her and she's still ramming her at you, then YANBU
Maybe you'll Think Twice about car sharing with her in future (sorry not sorry 😁)

That's so bad it's funny! My old boss was absolutely obsessed with Friends (the TV show) and used to insist on showing me clips (that I'd already seen) on her phone while she mouthed along with the words to show how well she knew it. I could say I'd seen it already and she'd still stick her phone under my nose. At least I could escape though and I wasn't stuck in a car!

DrinkUpBabyDown · 23/06/2024 19:06

I would love this as I adore Celine.

Sounds like me and her would get on brilliantly, I'm forever quoting Friends at people whenever I get a chance.
I mean, could you BE any more unreasonable?! 😂

Maybe she started a MN thread about not wanting to car share and has followed the advice.

She’s trying to get you to take the bus.

She’s trying to get you to take the bus.

She’s not. Her suggestion, saves her money, I’m on the way, she’s text me about it for tomorrow.
