Facebook sometimes shows me comments that friends have made in groups.
You then know what they are saying and the group they are in.
Didn't know if you were aware?
If there's a group you post in, a friend of yours may see that comment.
You might not want them to know your in that group but they will if you interact with them on FB alot.

This only happens if the group is public, it doesn’t happen if the group is private.

Littletreefrog · 23/06/2024 17:10

Yes if it is a public group anyone of your friends can see your comments.

XenoBitch · 23/06/2024 17:14

Yes, if the group is public, then you will see your friend's posts on it.
If you don't want your friends seeing your comments, then you need to post in private groups.

Blackcats7 · 23/06/2024 17:14

Yes, I realised this because I see friends comments in their groups. Doesn't bother me because I have never posted anything I wouldn't want my friends to know.

AngelDelightButNotStrawberry · 23/06/2024 17:15

If the group is public then yes you’ll see it. Or if you’re part of the same group you’ll see friend’s comments.

HappiestSleeping · 23/06/2024 17:16

Ultimately, anything posted on the Internet/ social media is in the public domain. Even private groups can be shared by other people.

My recommendation is never to post anything unless you don't mind the whole world potentially reading it.

BabyBobs · 23/06/2024 17:16

When you join Facebook all of their settings are there for you to see. They are very informative but unfortunately some people can't be bothered to read it all and then are upset when comments they have made in public groups or pages are visible to everyone.

Bobbotgegrinch · 23/06/2024 17:18

Well yes, that's the whole point of Facebook, to see what your friends are up to.

If you don't want people to see something you post, don't post it on social media under your own name.

girlfriend44 · 23/06/2024 17:44

It's also shows your friends likes, and what events they are interested in.
