Following on from the childhood obesity thread. I think it’s quite difficult for a lot of parents to come up with new, healthy, but low cost meals that children will enjoy.

I do the same things over and I’d love some new ideas all on one thread. I was thinking it might be helpful if we post a meal idea with the criteria 1) Healthy, 2) Low cost 3) Generally going to be liked by most kids.

Mine is chicken giros.

Heated flatbreads topped with ALDIs non spicy salsa, shredded chicken, lettuce, and a squirt of tzaki or garlicky mayo.

I have a biggish family, one favourite which comes in at about £5 is the cheese pasta sauce from Aldi, I buy 2 jars, bag of pasta, i normally add chorizo & chicken, or mushrooms, or anything really, you get a good 8 portions and they all love it. Serve with garlic bread.

Toad in the hole is good too, I buy the big bag Aldi frozen irish sausages (16 i think), stick them all in, make the yorkshire mix, cup flour cup milk 3 eggs & salt, sevre with mash and i always have frozen veg in the freezer. I think with the sausage and bag potatoes comes in around £3.50-£4
