Shoes or trainers?
most young people I know wear trainers

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/06/2024 10:35

Can’t he choose?

MigGirl · 23/06/2024 10:36

Trainers, DD wears sketches for college. Most of the boys wear, casual tracksuit and T-shirt.

liveforsummer · 23/06/2024 10:37

Trainers on the style/brand he likes best surely. It varies depending on taste so best to ask him

HodgePodge99 · 23/06/2024 10:38

Absolutely he can choose. I was just wondering what they are all wearing at sixth form?

Do you mean trainers? I find it odd at 16 he doesnt already have a pair of trainers, what does he wear for PE?

If you are asking for recommendations for brands and whats fashionable at the moment you basically can't go wrong with anything from JD Sports or Foot Asylum. Although if he has a particular style eg skater etc then Vans would probably be better.

Does he not have an opinion on this himself?

soupfiend · 23/06/2024 10:41

Does he have a saturday job? At that age I had various part time jobs, Thursday nights, Saturdays and Sundays and had my own money and an impressive collection of shoes by then. Let him sort it out, summer is here now and lots of cafes etc will be wanting summer staff.

Birch101 · 23/06/2024 10:41

Depends on his taste of styling I'd automatically think vans/converse

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 23/06/2024 10:41

Depends on the dress code as well. Boys in my 6th form wear formal shoes as that’s what they’re required to wear.

just tell him to go to the shop and buy some shoes he likes, surely?

Hoppinggreen · 23/06/2024 10:42

Air force 1's
Its what my DS and all his mates wear

HodgePodge99 · 23/06/2024 10:43

Wow, thanks all for your suggestions.

So DD has the ladies version of these a lot of them have them at sixth-form. The ladies ones come in a verity of colours though. He may perfer a different brand of trainer. I would go with something comfortable on the feet as they do seem to do a lot of walking around though.

Uno 2 Men's Trainers

DS has got a pair of AirWalk skate type trainers which he loves. I love them too because they are identical to the ones around in the 90s when I was his age!

Comefromaway · 23/06/2024 10:44

Converse, Vans, Sambas or Gazelles.

a few wear Air Force 1s.

DiscoBeat · 23/06/2024 10:53

DS16 is going into 6th form in September. Smart dress code so he's gone for tailored suits from MossBros (one navy one grey. If you do don't forget to get second pair of trousers) and a pair of black and pair of brown Oxfords. Reversible black/brown leather belt. If totally casual, he usually wears linen shorts or cargo trousers at home with usually plain black or white T shirts from Uniqlo, and AF1s .

Mentioning sixth form in the OP may have helped as it is not the only route post 16. Also 6th form at a school where they either still wear uniform or are expected in business dress is different from 6th form college where normally pretty much anything goes.
