To ask your experiences with adult ADHD diagnoses

If you've been diagnosed with ADHD as an adult has it made any improvement to your life? Was it worth it?

Have you been able to access any different help? Or medication and if so has this helped?

Did you just rock up to your GP and say you think you have ADHD?

Asking because I'm fairly certain I have it (I'm 32) and wondering whether it's worth the effort of pursuing a diagnosis or if Im better off just googling coping strategies.

I was diagnosed last year (aged 40), and it was helpful for me to know what was causing some issues in my life. Probably like a lot of people I had been a bit dismissive of it, as I didn't recognise it in myself at the time.

I think it's worth getting a diagnose, firstly to make sure it is ADHD and not something else, and also to access the medication - which I haven't tried yet but have heard can be very effective.
