Got a day free, what shall we do?

We have a rare Saturday to ourselves! All activities are cancelled for a change. What would you do? I feel we’re gonna waste it by lazing around. 2 kids, 6 and 9. What would you do?

'Lazing around' is underrated. Basically family time at home. If a 'free' Saturday is as rare as you say and you are usually busy, personally I would enjoy some calm time together - going for walk or playing games with children or letting them play and putting your feet up and reading a book.

Theme the day into a midsummer celebration , kids plan and prepare an evening picnic, make decorations and then go for a nature spotting walk . Bit like a sunny spontaneous Christmas!

I'd lean into the lazing if you're normally really busy.

Play some board games. Cook or bake together. Do something arty/musical if that's your thing. Family movie night tonight. Be silly, have fun.

I would hang out in the garden, get some ice creams in. Enjoy a day lazing around. Maybe some family board games, a film and dinner together

Lazing around is underrated.

Where are you based? At that age a big country house with nice gardens would be fun to rampage around on a nice day out on a summers day.

Depending on the weather where you are, what about going swimming or something like Go Ape if there’s one nearby.
Or you could stay on as PP have suggested and play a board game or two or do some creative cooking. Does anyone need a haircut?
