To cut my sons eyelashes?

I can't find much info online about this as it just comes up about fake eyelashes.
My son has been getting irritated by his long eyelashes for a while now and it's keeping him up at night.
Are you allowed to cut them? If so how? Has anyone done this before?
He's 5 years old fyi

I’d have an eye test first. A kid can’t always describe exactly what’s wrong

I curled my sons lashes upwards once as a few were annoying him. Literally did it once and they never bothered him again...

Isn't there a condition where people pick and pull at their eyelashes until they pluck them out?

Could this be an early sign of that?

Yep I agree with the pp saying don't cut them, use an eyelash curler. It will get them out of the way without any risk of damage to his eyes or dodgy regrowth. I say this having just slathered on eyelash growth serum, sorry, but I'd love this problem! In all seriousness though, try a curler just to lift them so his eyes aren't getting irritated, you can get heated ones which might not worry him so much as you don't need to apply as much pressure.
